A Toto Reunion

My Bone

We’re back from Texas and reunited with little Toto.  I couldn’t wait to pick her up from the kennel (known as “Doggy Camp” around her little ears).  In fact, the kennel owner (who has known us and our dogs for a long time) told me yesterday that he expected to find me waiting outside the door when they first opened up.  What he (and I) didn’t realize was that I was still on Houston time.  I hadn’t changed my wristwatch back and didn’t realize it until that afternoon.

I’m home and my favorite toys are all here.

Toto practically flew into my arms when she saw me.  “All is forgiven,” the kennel owner laughed.  She couldn’t get into our van fast enough.  As soon as she got home, she had to rub all over the couch and me and her toys.  Then she had to take a few of her favorite toys and stash them up on the top floor landing (her hiding place of choice).  It was so funny to observe her reclaiming her territory.

Look, I don’t want any of the other dogs to know about us. They’d just laugh.

This morning I got a real kick out of watching her play with her stuffed beaver.  If dogs could talk, here’s what I think she must have been saying.

OK, crawl in. I moved over so we can cuddle.

But, Mom..he just followed me home. Can I keep him?

Aw, I love you, too. Here, let me clean behind your ears.

On the knitting front, I needed a new knitting project to work on so first I grabbed some yarn from my stash.  I came up with 8 skeins of Madelinetosh Sport Weight yarn in the colorway “Malachite.”  Now I just had to find a sweater pattern that called for Sport weight yarn.

Charleston Tea

I settled on the Charleston Tea pattern.  It is a lovely hooded sweater with a lace panel on the back and a bit of lace design in the front.  It is worked top-down and in the round.  The pattern is easy and the yarn is so lovely to work with.  I’m really enjoying the feel of it and the stitch definition.  This particular yarn was from last year’s Madelinetosh Sweater Club.

I’m home, I have my elk bone, and all’s right with the world.

Well, I’m off to see the allergist.  With my typical great timing, I returned from Texas with a doozy of a cold but it was too late to reschedule my allergy appointment.  Maybe it’s for the best.  I might have a sinus infection so maybe he can check things out today.  I’ll just be happy to return home, put my feet up, make room for Toto, and start knitting.
