Queen of Multi-tasking

Today has been one of those days when I’ve been multi-tasking like crazy.  My normal style of approaching tasks is to do a task and then move on to the next.  I really hate having a bunch of things happening at once.  When I was younger and my children were still at home, it was often unavoidable but now that I’m an empty-nester, I’ve had the luxury of setting my own pace (normally).

First I had to make sure I had my box packed for Operation Christmas Child since our church is collecting these boxes this Sunday.  If it weren’t for the fact that I’m going to be off on a retreat this weekend, I’d just pack it on Saturday but I wanted to have it all ready for the Commander to take in with him to church.

I’ve started my annual ritual of gathering fabric for the family holiday pillowcases and I stuck those in the laundry today so that I could begin cutting out the parts for assembly early next week.

I packed my bags for a scrapbooking retreat that I’m attending tomorrow through Sunday.  Our daughter is coming up from Maryland to join me for this.  We try to do it every year and it is always a treat to spend time with Laura as well as many of my friends plus get lots of scrapbooking completed.  I don’t know how much scrapbooking for myself that I’ll get done because I plan on working on several big Christmas projects, including gifts for all of the staff who work at the nursing home on my mother’s wing (all 33 of them).

I baked a bunch of cookies to take to the retreat.  The ladies always want me to bring these for snacking and I’m happy to oblige since they are easy to make (buy them in the dairy case, pull them apart and pop them in the oven).

I continued working on a baby hat that will go with a sweater I’m working on and actually finished it tonight.  Now to continue working on the sweater when I return from the retreat.

I tacked the cuffs on a pair of the Commander’s pants that had come untacked.  That didn’t take long at all, thank goodness.  And last but not least, I went to visit my mother at the nursing home this morning, since I’d be otherwise occupied over the weekend.

Whew!  I’m worn out just writing this.  Now I think I’ll take a well-deserved snooze so that I’m rested for my big weekend.  Goodnight, all!

I’m bringing some milk to go with those cookies, since the hotel rooms have refrigerators! See you soon!
