The PeaPod Has Sprouted!

He's Here!

He’s Here!

Little PeaPod has finally arrived.  Joshua Gregory was born yesterday morning weighing in at 8 pounds and almost 21 inches long.  Not sure what color his eyes are but he really has a lot of hair.  It looks to me like it is going to be curly which I think is delightful.  When the nurse gave him his bath last night, she said she saw a lot of red and blonde in the color.  I think it might end up a light auburn or strawberry blonde.  He’s got a little dimpled chin and is a sturdy little buckaroo.  In fact, he looks like you could hand him a hockey stick and he’d be able to score a goal.

Speaking of Buckaroos, I just texted his mom to give her first choice of what nickname she’d like for him when I am blogging about him.  I gave her this list to choose from:  Squeaks, Scooter, Sparky, Spanky, Sprout, or Tater.  She replied with “None of them. ”  She said if he had to have any nickname it could be PeaPod or Little Buckaroo.  Well, you can’t be a PeaPod when you’re out of the pod so I guess Bucky it is.

Bucky hasn’t weighed in with an opinion yet.  He’s been too busy eating.  The little guy (and I say that subjectively) has quite the appetite.  He obviously takes after his parents and his grandma.  We all love to eat.

In fact, our first glimpse of him when he was just a few hours old was of him sucking away on his fist as he tried to jam it into his mouth.

Hi, Grandma!

Hi, Grandma!

Last night we just happened to be at the hospital when the nurse arrived to give Bucky his first bath.  He was NOT a happy camper.  Afterwards both the Commander and I got to hold him.  When I had him in my arms and was talking to the little sprout, he actually opened his eyes and waved at me.  I swear he did.  Just look at the picture.  Oh, I think we’re going to be great pals.  I can’t wait to pass on all the fun tricks that my own mother taught my children.  Grandparental paybacks are so much fun when you can kiss them “good-bye” and head out the door at the end of the day.  Ha, ha!

Welcome to the world, little Joshua!
