Love This Kitchen Tool!

Bench Scrape Shovel

Bench Scrape Shovel

Have you ever purchased or received something that proved indispensable to the point that you wondered how you ever did without it before?  Let me tell you about a handy little kitchen tool that falls firmly in that category.

This past Christmas, I put the Rachael Ray Bench Scrape Shovel on my wish list and lo and behold, someone in my family actually read my list and bought it for me for Christmas.  I didn’t have any prior experience with a tool like this but I’d seen Rachael use it on her TV show and it just seemed like a handy thing to have in the kitchen.

Up until this point, I’d always been the gal who chopped her veggies and then scooped them up in her hands and made multiple trips to the cooking pot, always dropping bits and pieces along the way.  Well, no more!

The front edge of this little “shovel” is beveled and tapered down so that you can easily run it along your cutting board and scoop up whatever you’ve just cut right into the flat surface, all the while holding the tool by its handy rubberized handle.

From there, it’s a quick and easy trip over to the cooking pot or skillet where you just tip the tool and your veggies fall into the pot.  No muss nor fuss.  If your knife happens to have some stray veggies clinging to it, you can easily use the edge of the tool to gently scrape the veggies from the flat of the knife into the pot as well.

Honestly, I don’t know how I did without this all these years in the kitchen.  It is SO handy.  Even better?  It’s not expensive.  I think you can get one for around  $8.00 up on Amazon and if you have Prime membership, the shipping is free.

You can thank me the next time you are chopping veggies for that pot of soup.  Enjoy!
