Kitchen Remodel -Phase Two, Day Five

Before Stripping

Before Stripping

Here was our kitchen AFTER the new cabinet refacing and the new countertops but with the old wallpaper still on.  The green check wallpaper with the apple basket border just didn’t go with the new color scheme.

Finished Kitchen

Here’s the finished kitchen.  The wallpaper has been stripped off and the walls are painted a cool beige (Kalim Beige).  Boy, did our painter have a chore trying to get that wallpaper off the walls.  It was coming off in tiny little pieces, leaving the backing on the drywall.  What a pain.

Here’s the back wall of the kitchen, after I moved the free-standing cabinets back into the room.  The walls look white here but they really are beige.

Or this picture as you come into the kitchen from the dining room.

Speaking of the dining room, Day Five came to a close with the dining room wallpaper stripped off and one coat of paint applied.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture of it to show you.  You’ll have to wait for the big “reveal” in a day or two when we have everything moved back into place after the second coat dries and we can rehang the pictures.

In the meantime, it was sure nice to have the house to ourselves this past weekend, with no painters around.  Even Toto looked happier.
