Home Remodel – Day Six

Taking it to the Next Level

Taking it to the Next Level

Week Two of the continuing remodel at our house and the kitchen is finished.  Our dining room has been stripped and painted.  We’re just letting the walls dry really well before hanging pictures back on the walls and putting switch-plates back on.  Then I can take pictures and post them.

On to the Master Bathroom

Now our painter has moved upstairs to our Master Bathroom.  The original plan was to prime over the wallpaper and then to paint it.  We thought the previous owners had just wallpapered onto drywall, like they did over much of the rest of the house.  However, when the painter got in there and tried stripping a patch over the shower, he discovered that the walls had been painted first and the wallpaper came off relatively easily (unlike the dreaded kitchen).

So on the weekend, we took all the pictures off the walls, removed the switch-plates and towel racks, and took all of our toiletries out of the Master Bath and got it ready for our painter to go to work.

On Day Six, he actually got all of the wallpaper off the walls.  In the meantime, we moved our toiletries downstairs to the guest bathroom and have been using that.  It was quite strange to have to go downstairs in the middle of the night to use the loo.

“Why”, you might ask, “don’t you just use the bathroom upstairs in the night?”

Believe me, my friends.  We couldn’t get inside there if we tried.  I keep telling myself that it is going to look so much better with that blue wallpaper off and a nice brown paint on the walls.  That will be the last of the blue in our house.  Thank you, Lord!  And once this room is repainted, this will be the last big project until we tackle the unfinished part of the basement.  I can’t wait to use my own shower again.
