A Full House

It's My Kitchen!

It’s My Kitchen!

Guess who showed up at our house at 1 a.m. this morning?  It was Sweet Pea, Spud, and their daddy, who had flown all the way from Texas to come spend a week with us.  Earlier in the evening, our daughter, son-in-law, and the two grand-dogs arrived to spend the night so that they could see Jason and the kidlets today, too.

To Tired to Even Eat

We all made it to church in the morning and then headed over to our favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch.  Between getting Spud out of his carseat and carrying him into the restaurant, he was out like a light.  Daddy couldn’t resist putting a chip in his hand to see if he’d wake up.  It didn’t even get a stir out of him.  So we unhooked the car seat and brought it in so Spud could snooze while the rest of us ate.

Once we got back home, the kidlets had so much fun digging all the toys out of the toy box and the drawers of the little play kitchen.  They played so nicely with them, too, especially considering the fact that they’d had so little sleep.

Don't you eat my toys, Toto!

Toto, as expected, was beside herself with joy to have little ones in the house again.  In fact, she was like a kid on Christmas morning, wanting to go downstairs early to see if any of them were up.  Once they started playing, I kept turning around to find Toto running off with toy spoons in her mouth or trying to eat the fake food.  Ha!  She even tried to make off with Sweet Pea’s toy mouse but I rescued that quickly.

Spud took particular joy in naming all of the dogs.  He kept going from one to the other saying, “Elton, Sadie, Toto” and gently petting them.  Toto loved it.  Sadie wasn’t too sure about these little people but tolerated things.  Elton hid.

Jason, the Dog Whisperer

Of course, Toto couldn’t stand to be away from her favorite person, Jason, for very long.  We swear that Jason must be a dog whisperer because Toto just LOVES him to pieces.  She’s shy around other men until she gets to know you but from the minute she first met Jason, it was love at first sight.

"Watching" cartoons

“Watching” cartoons

As the afternoon wore on, Sweet Pea, Spud, and their Daddy went downstairs to watch some cartoons.  I think Daddy used it as an excuse to take a much-needed nap.  And then I had to head off to a rehearsal for our church children’s musical and Laura and Jason had to head home with their dogs.

When I returned home tonight, the children were sitting in their beds, waiting to say goodnight.  Daddy was doing the same thing.  I don’t think Papa and I will be far behind.  It was a GOOD day!
