Don’t Rock the Boat

Row Your Clog

Row Your Clog

It’s my last day this visit in Texas and then I head off for Pennsylvania tomorrow.  Wouldn’t you know that I feel like I’m coming down with something but hopefully, it will go away and not turn into a full-blown illness as usually happens.  I still had enough energy to play with the little ones this afternoon.  Spud and Sweet Pea played dinosaurs/animals and we had several groups “migrating” across two bodies of water.

Spud’s group used little books and a spare clog as boats and I told him that they were crossing the Pacific Ocean.  While they sailed the ocean blue, Spud’s sister, not to be outdone, had HER animals across the divide crossing another body of water.   I told her that they were crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

The children had a lot of fun playing merrily with the “Pooh” twins and the “Piglet” twins and the dinosaurs (of which Spud can name every type) while Nana provided the commentary while resting with her feet up.  Then we did some pretend food cooking and watched “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” video (having to burst into applause when the caterpillar became a butterfly) before it was time to head down the street to Grandpa and Nammy’s house.

I persuaded Spud to take off the boots he’d been wearing all day and put on clogs because it had been raining a lot today and I know he really likes to jump in mud puddles.  True to his nature, he hit every puddle along the way, sometimes doubling back to wade through them again.

It's Daddy!

It’s Daddy!

When we returned home after supper, there were two lovely surprises waiting.   Sweet Pea’s Canadian passport had been renewed and had arrived.  She has dual citizenship and needed to have a new passport.  Then Daddy called to Skype and that brought an even bigger smile to everyone’s faces.  He’ll be home tomorrow and there will be much rejoicing, I’m sure.

Now it’s time for me to head to bed.  I’m leaving early in the morning and it will be “rise and shine” time before you know it.
