Day Two of the Kitchen Remodel

Cabinets Doors are Installed

Cabinets Doors are Installed

Day Two of our mini-Kitchen Renovation and the cabinet doors and hardware have been installed.  Tomorrow he will install the counter-top and the sink and faucet and then put our disposal back in and also put up the molding.

Waiting for Molding

He’ll also need to put the matching molding around the pantry door.  Speaking of that pantry, he shaved off some space somewhere in the cabinet structure so the stove is back in place and the door opens without scraping the wall but I swear, if there was another layer of wallpaper on that wall, it would be scraping again.  There is only a hairsbreadth of clearance there.

Cabinet Under Sink

This is the cabinet under the sink.  I had forgotten that we’d asked for a tip-out little drawer to be added above the bottom cabinet and was pleasantly surprised when he showed it to me.

Pull out drawers

Pull out drawers

We gained two pull-out drawers over in the cabinet next to the stove.  That’s where we traditionally have the blender and the mixer so it will be nice to be able to have them in drawers that pull out.

Waiting for Counter

Waiting for Counter

He was telling me that it should be interesting tomorrow trying to maneuver the counter-top in our tiny kitchen since the man who took the measurements had it made all in one piece.  Our installer told me that he would have had it made in two pieces with a join where the dishwasher meets the end counter.  I’m just trying to envision how the back-splash is going to look.  It has to be higher than the current one since the wallpaper has been peeled off in spots all along the counter-top and he doesn’t seem too worried.  Hopefully I’ll be pleasantly surprised again tomorrow.
