Another Furniture Shopping Trip

Time for New Furniture

Time for New Furniture

If you remember back in January, we went shopping for new living room furniture and found this set.  We ordered it in a love seat and matching rocker/recliners done up in leather.  That was January.  It was supposed to be here by Feb. 22.  That deadline came and went and this week, our salesperson informed us that the manufacturer is experiencing trouble obtaining leather.  Apparently there is a leather shortage.  We could just continue to wait, not knowing when they’d even get started on our furniture OR cancel the order and start over.  We chose the latter option.

I had actually been a little nervous about the choice of leather with our dog.  It was a soft leather and I was afraid that Toto would end up scratching it with her claws or otherwise damaging it.  I was also concerned that our chosen configuration would only give us seating for four in our living room.  Perhaps a sectional would still be a better choice?

We looked at a lot of sectionals and most were too big for our small living room.  Then we stumbled across this “movie-theatre seating” arrangement from Pallister.  You could order it in quite a few variations, including a sectional arrangement that would fit our room.

What REALLY sold us on this was that you could get it in a fabric called “Phoenix” which is touted as being very kid and pet-friendly.  It has the look of leather, feels like a combination of smooth rubber and suede (hey, I’m being honest here) and best of all, you can wipe off stains with water or Windex.  NOW we’re talking!  We decided to order it with a recliner on each end of the “L”-shaped piece with two seats in between them and a corner seat linking it all together.  So, in a pinch, we should be able to get five people seated.  I’m really hoping we can add a comfy chair for the corner by the fireplace at some point, as in when I can convince the Commander to do it.  For now, we’ve moved the two wingback chairs over to the sofa to form an “L” to get an approximation of how it will look and how much space it will take up in our room when the new furniture arrives.  Now we just have to sit back and wait 8-10 weeks for THIS order to arrive.
