Another Fish Hat Comin’ At Ya!

Micah's Fish Hat Seems Mighty Hungry.

Micah's Fish Hat Seems Mighty Hungry.

I’ve finished the second hat that I promised my young friends up in Canada.  Micah had a different set of colors that she wanted for her fish which is always good.  With a brother and sister, it’s nice to have your own customized hats.  But I guess all that time on the needles must have made fish hat #2 a hungry fish because it seems to be trying to gobble up one of my German bears.  Just for you knitters out there, once again I used the Magic Loop method of knitting this hat and enjoyed it much more than fiddling around with DPNs.  This is the free Fish  Hat: Dead or Alive  pattern that was featured in the online Knitty magazine in the Winter 2008 issue http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter08/.

Let Go of That Bear!

Let Go of That Bear!

Well, since I couldn’t let Micah’s fish gobble up my bear, I went looking for a champion who
would be tough enough to stand up to a fish hat.  Sure enough, I found the “Fifty is Fantastic” doll that my kids gave me on my fiftieth birthday.   She grabbed one of my jewelry-making tools and threatened Fish Hat with a bop on the snout if she didn’t let Mr. Bear go.  Of course, we know that violence isn’t the answer so she wouldn’t really give him a wallop, but bear appreciated her efforts to free him.

Fish Hat decides Sereknity Yarn tastes better.

After considering that it probably isn’t nice to eat other people’s bears, Fish Hat #2 decided to swim over to check out my abundant yarn stash and of course, there just happened to be some new yarn from Sereknity in yummy colors which were just too tempting to resist.  Chomp!  Looks like another skein of yarn is going down the hatch.  At this rate, Fish Hat #2 might have enough yarn to expand to the size of a tuna.

Fish Hat #2 also decided that it is better to be friends with the folks around you than to try to nibble them up.  So now Micah’s fish hat is having fun with Bear and Ms. 50 while hanging around waiting to be packaged up to head out to Canada.  In the meantime, both Fish Hat #1 and #2 have promised to wave their fins for the Steelers today as we head into the Super Bowl.  Let’s hope that later tonight, I can join the gang in saying, “All’s Well That Ends Well!”
